In a recent study, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) found that only 58% of men and 63% of women are likely to donate to charitable causes or events. It also found that 16-24 year olds are the least likely group to be involved in any charitable giving, ironically the same group most likely to be reading this online blog post.

So, what exactly is it that puts people off donating to charity? Is it that everyone is counting the pennies at the moment? Or there’s always someone in the office collecting money for something? We live incredibly busy lifestyles in times of financial hardship; often there just isn't the spare time for sponsored events or charity races, and not everyone can commit to giving a monthly charitable donation via direct debit.

But what if there was an easier way to donate to charity, a way that meant you didn’t have to give extra from your own pocket…

Well, now you can raise donations at no extra cost to your free time or your bank account, simply by shopping online! Whether it’s your weekly Waitrose grocery shop or a new outfit from ASOS, your online purchases can be raising free donations to the charitable causes you care about, just with the click of your mouse.

Here’s how you can get involved…

iStreet has partnered with over 1000 retailers and have over 150 charities signed up just waiting for your donations. You simply select a charity from our list then find the retailer you wish to buy from, ‘et voilà’, a free donation is made. Completely stress free, apart from deciding what to buy of course..!

So far, over 150 charities of various sizes have partnered with iStreet, but crucially there are still many smaller, often less known charities out there yet to sign up that are in desperate need of support and donations.

If there is a particular charity close to your heart but you can’t see them on our list, we’d love to hear from you! You can nominate a charity simply by contacting us; we will do the hard work for you and then let you know when they are ready to be donated to through iStreet.

We hope that the next CAF study shows more and more people are donating to charitable causes and partaking in charitable actions. Your donations through iStreet can help change the way people view giving.
